Columbia College Chicago, Art & Design School

Chicago, Illinois

Gensler has been an invested design partner at Columbia College Chicago for eight years, involved in more than 250 projects that have resulted in a cohesive campus brand. The Art & Design School renovation, which arose in parallel with a curriculum shift requiring all students to take courses in each allied art field, demanded new types of hands-on laboratory learning environments. In developing ideas, Gensler worked with a dedicated studio within the College to advance concepts for the program. The resulting two-story teaching studio and 20,000-square-foot wood shop will continue advancing Columbia College’s interdisciplinary curriculum.
