Centennial Yards Entertainment District

Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta’s spirit of revitalization is most acutely felt in its Downtown, where the new Centennial Yards Entertainment District aims to transform a forlorn 7.5-acre site into a vibrant mixed-use destination. Led by architecture firms Gensler and SHAPE, the new entertainment district will anchor east and west Atlanta and revitalize the heart of the city with 470,000 square feet of new building area. Downtown’s revival will drive dynamic growth and opportunity for the city while paying homage to its rich cultural history through thoughtful design.

The Centennial Yards Entertainment District’s design creates a balance between the surrounding Centennial Olympic Park and the area’s mix of towering high-rises and lower, tiered buildings accented by green terraces along various elevations. This rich mix creates a multi-dimensional yet cohesive environment that is rooted in a pedestrian-centered experience. Located in the “City within a Forest,” energy efficiency is a key measure of the project’s success and all of its new buildings will be LEED-certified. Communal spaces and walkways will be interwoven with drought-resistant greenery, left undisturbed by cars since all parking and ride share pick-ups is located below ground. In addition to the adjacent multi-family and hotel parcels underway, the Centennial Yards Entertainment District will bring a thriving residential community back to downtown.
